Hi Guys

I cant open alot of my internet pages or I can open the site but once it starts searching and it gets to the results, I get the page 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'

I got the message ''Network Connection Timed Out' after I tried to download a small free itunes app.

Any ideas?

Internet Explorer is not the best browser out there. I prefer Chrome.

You may have gotten malware.

Be sure to restart your router/modem/computer. Turn it off, let sit unplugged for 30 seconds, and then plug in again.

I am having problems opening certain internet pages. It;s driving me mad.
  • Eg. Trying to open Gmail...says it is taking to long to open then flips to 'Internet Explorer cant display this page'
  • Wont open Ebay - 'Internet Explorer cant display this page'
  • Trying to download a free small app on itunes - msg 'Network connection timed out'
  • Facebook - opens but only shows first top half of screen
  • Will not open any utube - 'Internet Explorer cant display this page'
Luckily it can open this site, so there is def a connection.

So far I have:
  • Turned off my computer, left for 20mins, turned back on
  • Same with modem (as above) and reset it
  • The connection on my husbands wireless laptop works perfectly
  • My internet connection says it is connected
  • I have run several Trend full scans
  • Run Windows Defender scan
  • I have reset my security & privacy settings to the default
I am lost as to what to do next. Any ideas??

Could it be something as simple like a setting that is wrong??

Bypass the router and try it connected directly to the PC. I had a similar situation last December, and I replaced the router. That fixed it. Routers can wear out.

Routers can wear out.

True. Although in my case, it was the router's power adaptor that wore out after three years of constant usage. Replacing it, put my router back its usual self. I only discovered that after I had replaced my three routers, however.

Ok, here's the thing......you have only tried Internet Explorer to browse the web so far with all of these errors you are getting.

You HAVE to try downloading and installing Firefox or Google Chrome browser and see how they work.

That will help to figure out if it's a system-wide issue (i.e. viruses) or just a problem with Internet Explorer.

If you can browse the web fine with FireFox or Chrome then we know it's just IE's problem, but if those browsers also exhibit the same symptoms, then it's an infection most likely.

Are you using a wired or wireless connection? If it is a wired connection, then try testing that wire with another known good machine.
