I am getting ALL sorts of problems with my Plextor lately. I have an ABIT KT7A and have the Plextor is on the second IDE as master. According to the Plextor drive, it should be DMA enabled. But unfortunately, everything I burn with CDRwin, my machine freezes. I checked the CDR site and found that I need to disable DMA. Is this a problem with CDRWin only? Or do I have to disable DMA for the burner regardless of which burning software?

Another thing, someone mentioned that it may be something to do with UDMA (in the BIOS) not working really well with CD burners.

Anyone?

I am currently burning ok as long as I disable DMA (but my UDMA is enabled, not that it matters...)

I have my Plextor set to DMA and I dooon't have any problems with CDRWin. For a while I was having a similar problem and it turned out that my ASPI layer was corrupt. I would check that first. There is a program called aspichk on adaptec's site for checking the status of your ASPI layer. If you can't find it PM me with your e-mail and I will send you some files to help you out.
