I'm helping a friend reinstall his OS (Win98) and have run into a snag. I can't find a generic Windows driver for his network card and he doesn't have a driver disk or know who made it. Is there a program I can get that will show me what hardware he has and such?

Can you have him shut down the system, remove the card and see if it has a brand/model on it? That would help.

Ok, color me dumb@ss for not thinking of the obvious. :) All that can really be made on the card is Linksys.

Righto, and check for a revision number along with the model number, because they sometimes have different drivers for the different revisions. :) (for instance, watch for "rev. 2" or "rev 4.1" or "rev. 5.0" silk-screened on it in rather small print)

Linksys's drivers download page shows pictures of all of the cards. There were a number of different chipsets used on the same model number card - all with different drivers. You should be able to identify which card you have from the pictures.
