i guess the people in gen. hardware are sleeping.. and i can't seem to get anyone else to reply so back to OT we go.

last night i boot up my pc normally it will go to windows and have the desktop displayed on both monitors, last night something got messed and i had to go and right click > properties > settings and enable the second display. worked fine after that till i was done using the system. turned it off went to bed.

woke up this morning and it did the same thing except this time in settings the second display wasen't there. second display dosen't show up in hardware manager. tried messing with all the settings that i know of, and updating drivers, still dosen't work. the display itself works, plugged it into another pc and came to life.

getting ready to do a format here... and crossing my fingers that it is just a glitch in windows =/

any ideas?

edit;
if it matters, the card is a Gainward ti4600 dual DVI, and two samsung 191T's.

just finished a format and i'm still having troubles getting the second display to work. it dosen't show up in display settings and the second monitor dosen't show up in the device manager. is there a setting i'm missing somewhere?

if infact the card did go back, why the second display port and not both?

have tried two already, plus the driver that windows uses when it auto-detects the card.

Do you have the golden sample card? If you have it overclocked, clock it down, and that card and the 4400 have terrible ram problems. Make sure it's not overheating. Also, try updating the drivers FROM NVIDIA

Well, EXPERTool might help you quite a bit. Gainward cards have a reputation to be a bit finicky to use but there is a very good chance this tool will help you. I know because I have the same exact card you do, except I have the dual DVI Golden Sample version. It's never given me any problems, so just install that tool. If you need it, try Gainward's site, or I can probably hook you up with a copy, since it's freeware.

This sounds dumb, but did you turn both monitors on before the computer booted up?
I've experienced installed monitors being set back to "default" if they arent turned on before the computer boots.

yep, they were, and are, and still can't get it to work.

Corp, EXPERTool didn't seem to do much besides add another icon in my system tray :-/

Try entering the display manager, or installing nView.

nview is installed and enabled... under the windows tab is the settings for dual displays, all of which are grayed out (can't click on them)

it seems as though the port..plug, whatever, on the card is bad? maybe? idk... the second display that is plugged in works if i hook it up to a different pc, or the other port, but when plugged into the secondary it dosen't show up in the hardware manager like the other one does, and has done in the past.

Try running one monitor on the card in the port you think is messed up. See if it will recognize it

Well then it's not your card that's damaged. If it shows a mirror image it works fine. It's just windows being stupid. Try uninstalling the card and then reinstalling it maybe?

ok. i uninstalled the driver, booted the pc back up and had a mirror image on the second lcd. got into windows, windows auto-detected the card, installed it. i adjusted the res, and lost the mirror. tried setting the rez back down and i don't get the mirror back.

as of now, i still get the mirror image while the system boots, up untill the login screen.
