My wife has a Sony Vaio that's running Mac OS9. I bought the latest D-Link 624 Extreme G 802.11g router for my Windows desktop but D-Link says their cardbus is only good for Max OS X and I don't think she wants to upgrade at this time.

Anybody know what kind of card I should get for her laptop? It's about 3 years old, not a real current machine.

thanks
Jim

How did she get a vaio to run Mac OS 9?

WARNING: I have never bought from this site, and do not necessarily endorse doing so! I only provide the link to help you find some information!

Check out the networking section at http://www.mac-pro.com. They have a couple of cardbus cards, not just the airport/airport extreme cards.

Last, but not least, I doubt Mac OS 9 supports 802.11g. Will the WAP accept 802.11b connections? If so, just about any Mac OS 9 compatible card should work just fine.

thanks n0cmonkey, have since found out it's not a Sony, but an Applebook, OS9, and I just bought the Dlink 810+ card that plugs into the ethernet connection. That'll be plenty fast for what she needs, and I won't have to upgrade her to OS X either.

I've also gotten my Dlink 624 extreme G and 650+ cardbus for my host and other laptop, installed without a hitch, great reception through a couple brick walls, upgraded the firmware without a problem either. I couldn't be happier with DLink.

I bought the newegg bundle with a $40 rebate, good for another couple weeks. Anybody who wants easy to install, fast wireless, Jump on it: www.newegg.com

You could also just buy an internal Apple AirPort card which would be guaranteed compatible.
