Help please....what OS should I install in a new machine

Hi all,
I am picking up a brand new AMD 1800XP today with no OS installed. Some have told me to install win98 AND XP because I 'might' need 98 for something. ??? I use dreamweaver and office 2000, along with a few image editting programs like photoshop, illustrator, etc.
Will these programs operate properly for me on XP?
Can annyone tell me what if any programs actually need win98.
I don't know what to do, please give me your opinion.

Definately don't need 98 anymore. If you install 98 the c drive has to be fat32. I would reccomend xp.

I myself have a dual-boot of Win98SE and XP Home. Now that I have found proper program updates for my scanner, I no longer have a "real" use for Win98. I will probably wipe it off here in the near future. Win95,98, and ME need to die😀 Go for the XP..You will like yourself much better than if you picked 98😉
 
I dual booted for a while with 98SE and XP Pro. Never used 98SE so it got the boot. (pun intended)😱
