Help Please.... SB PCI64 MIDI waveset problem

I have been trying to figure this out for a week.

I set up a new computer for my dad. I installed a new oem PCI64 sound card. Loaded the drivers. Upon restart. I received the following message:

"The Creative Sound Blaster PCI64 driver cannot load the MIDI waveset. MIDI playback has been disabled.

I first went to the web and got the latest drivers, installed them. No help.

I can go into System Properties, select the sound card and under properties there is a section to add a MIDI waveset.

I do this, go to the installation CD and there is a waveset there. I load it. The properties then show it.

I shut down and restart. Same thing..... And when I go to system properties in the "add midi waveset" window, there is no waveset listed. It seems the software cannot "hold" the waveset after I load it.

There is a check box for "lock waveset" I did that and NO help.

Any Ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Download a new waveset from Creative. They had an update for it about 2 months ago.

Ah... gotcha. Download the waveset specifically. I just downloaded the whole set of drivers. It most likely had the old wave set.

I'll give it a try.

Thanks!

Figured it out... thanks

Had to manually put the waveset into windows\system folder. For some reason the installation program would not copy the file there itself.

Anyway all is well and pops is happy.... he can hear his MIDI files play when people send him e-mail greeting cards.
