help please:parts arrived, using original hard drive question on new mobo

hello all, i have what might be an ordinary question, i've done some research online and i'm about to undertake the task of installing my new mobo/cpu/memory. catch: i will be using my original hard drives (2 sata seagate 7200s).

mobo: asus a8n-sli premium
cpu: amd 64 4000+

QUESTION: after installing mobo and the like, can i simply go ahead and plug the new drives into the sata plugs (mobo) and boot up? am i supposed to boot up with my windows xp cd? do i have to run windows setup or repair? will mobo/windows be able to see my drives as 1?? i am not entertaining re-formatting unless i absolutely have to.

i have backed up necessary personal files, but not system files.

thanks in advance

If the MB is of a different chipset, you'll nned to boot witht he XP CD in the drive. Just doing a repair should work fine.

Thanks Ike. my experience has been that windows doesn't see my hard drives as they're currently set up (raid0). this has been the case when trying to run windows setup/repair. i guess that's what i'm afraid of, is reaching that point and that happening.

i suppose i should just try at this point!
