Help please on a Intel Pentium II Question.

My Network Administrator got in a big argument about one of the labs that has some POS Compaq Presarios. These Presarios are the model number 5034S and he claims they have SOCKET 1 Pentium II chips in there. I remember upgrading memory and they were socket processor with NO slotket sticking out with a AMD k6-2 333MHZ processor. But NOOOOOOOOO, he think he is Mr. Smarty and knows everything. I swore that PII's weren't made at a speed of 300MHZ, correct me if I am wrong. Am I right guys?

Well, since the school board has NO money and we have "too" many computers that would be a negative Andrew/David. Plus, he only buys from Central Data.

PII's were made up to 450mhz, and there was a 300mhz version of it.

I remember 266MHz and 333Mhz, but I don't remember a 300. Not 100% sure though.

P2's went from 233 (pretty sure that was the lowest) up to 450. I thought there were 300s and would ASSume there were.

Central Data, it is a reseller in Titusville man, they sell Sun, HP, and Compaq shiat.

There were Pentium II 300s, but they were slot 1.

Maybe you're thinking of MMXs, which went up to 233.

PII's were made at 300Mhz. (3x100MHzFSB)

They were only made in slot form because of the 512k of cache that was located on the PCB inside the slot 1 cartridge. The processors were available at speeds of 233 MHz, 266 MHz, 300MHz, 333 MHz, 350 MHz, 400 MHz and 450MHz. The only PII available in socket form was the Pentium II Overdrive chip which was available at 333MHz and was used to upgrade Socket-8 Pentium Pro motherboards.

According to my memory, PII only came in slot 1.

Yep, and I have an old 300MHz chip lying around here somewhere.

I have never heard of a Socket PII.
The PII was Slot 1.
The K6-2 was Socket 7.

The best was that there is a PII's in there, he is pretty sure of himself that there is. He thinks that there is 300MHZ P2's Sockets in there. By your post, Intel didn't make socket 300MHZ P2's so that means I won.
