Help! (Please)--Multiplayer not working in Steam games

I am fairly computer literate, but I cannot fix a problem with my Steam games.

Whenever I try to do multiplayer on Steam games (I tried DoD source, CS source, RTCW, Fallout 3, Brink), no servers pop up/ it just searches for game to join without ever finding one.

I can connect to Steam and download games, and multiplayer works in non steam games (HoN). The only firewall I have is Windows Firewall and I added an exception.

Any ideas? I tried googling solutions, but I have no idea what the problem is.
