Help, please, lost the Search files folders function

Waah
Having an odd problem, I have lost the search for files and folders function,
Win XP. system restore won't work.

Any ideas??

Tried antivirus, and Cleanup.

Adaware, etc.

You mean it's gone from the start menu? You can just hit F3 while on the desktop, or with a Windows Explorer window open, hit Ctrl-E.

I think this will fix it. Copy and paste this into a text file with an extension of .reg, then run the file and import the data into the registry.

From the "Start" menu, the search function for files and folders,
will not work, the menu choice still shows up though.

When I move the mouse pointer to the "files and folders" nothing happens.🙁
