Help, please Linux cable modem set up.

I have linux Mandrake 7.0 set up that acts as my server. It is the gateway for my internet dial up 56k connection. I installed 2 3com 905b's for my connection to my network. 1 is used now for my network, the other is waiting for a cable modem connection. That will happen in a few hours.

1) Do I need to permanately disable my dial up? If so, how?

2) How do I set up the ethernet card to be my internet connection?

My linux man has left and I know no one around here. I'm left with my manual, and a general lack of experience with command line OS's.

Any suggestions? I may like this once it's up and running.😉

I got it up and running. Yes,DHCP means PUMP, right? I think thats how it is in Mandrake. My friend who set it up says it may die when HSA changes IP addresses. I do not know, but maybe I need a script to run every so often to maintain the connection. Have you ever heard of that?
Any help or advice is truly recieved with utmost gratitude.

Thank you.
