Hey, let me start off my giving you the rundown of my system:
ASUS P3V4X
640 megs (2x256, 1x128) kingmax tinybga
566mhz celeron @853mhz
promise ultra/100
dlink dfe-530tx+
sound blaster live! mp3+
MSI GF4 ti4400

and hdds, opticals, etc

Now what happens: When I try and put in my 3com etherlink III PCI revision B, my systems won't boot correctly.
When I swap out my Ultra/100 w/the 3com, it works.
If I use a different video card then I can put in both other things together at once...

I think its an IRQ mix up, but no matter what slots I put it in, it still doesn't work...all the cards are on different IRQs also, but still doesn't work...
I think its the ultra/100 and 3com that mess it up because the ultra/100 says that it should share IRQs only if other cards also share it..the 3com was made in 1995, doubt it shares...

anyway, any suggestions on how to get it to work, i've tried everything i could think of

Is your PCI Bus overclocked also? Maybe that's where your conflict is. If it was an IRQ conflict it should boot fine, and just not work in the OS. You could also have a bad card on your hands, but that would be the last idea.

All the cards work, just not really when they are together :)

I've never seen a way to overclock/underclock my PCI slots...I'll try underclocking and putting it in...thanks for the idea...

You know, I don't know if it was the nic, motherboard or a via problem but I could never get my 3Com 3C905B (if I remember correctly) to work with my P3V4X a couple of years ago. It seemed to be conflicting with my SCSI adapter but I couldn't track it down. Tried 2 different cards, both 3Com. Replaced the NIC with an Intel based one and all was well. (still is:))

Maybe you were overclocking too...just underlocked my processor and all my PCI slots are functioning just fine...that blows though, running at 566mhz that is.

Can't wait for my 2.26 in a couple of weeks :)

Either way, damn =(
