Help please--Got new RAM, it isn't being detected

I bought some new RAM from crucial: 256mb pc 2100 for my epox 8kha+. I already had 256 mb pc 1600 Ram. I installed the ram, it went in fine, no problems. I started up the computer and the Ram is not detected in Windows XP or the bios. It still says I have 256 mb. Can anyone tell me what is going on and what I can do?
