I've had this Hitachi CM771 19" CRT for a few years and it's been running really well. Recently however, I came home and woke it from suspend to find its picture generally corrupted. It's a bit blurry, especially when black and white are close together and anywhere there are dark colors, it streaks them horizontally across the screen. It doesn't seem to display white very well, the best I can get is a light gray. Anywhere there's anything dark in the screen, I get a dark shadow/streak to the left and right of it. I've been trying to get in touch with Hitachi, but no luck so far. I have to find the receipts to see if its still under warranty.
I'm most interested in knowing what could be wrong though. I wouldn't be surprised if dust is what did it in. The monitor is still usable but it looks terrible and probably isn't good for my eyes.
I know you're really not supposed to open up monitors because the tube stays charged and carries 40000 volts or something like that, but if someone knows a sure fire way to fix this kind of thing, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
