I bought a new system from Gateway and whenever I start a 3D game my
system locks up. Gateway said that the games aren't compatible with
Win Me just because they are with Win 98 (even though some are Microsoft
games and are new ones to boot). I am thinking about sending it back
because they won't help. Any suggestions?

Noone can help much unless you list system specs... I ahven't noticed winme giving much trouble for games... Maybe try updaing to directx 8, and or updating your video drivers... Chanves are ig you have an integrated soulution like a 820 or 815 you could be out of luck.

As I'm sure you know, Gateway is completely and utterly wrong! Games should work fine under WinME. I'd try updating your video card drivers. You should probably use the reference drivers provided by nvidia (since I'm not sure who the actual card manufacturer is).

If that is the extent of gateway's support, send it back! What happens when you have a problem AFTER the warranty runs out and they blow you off again?

Once again, Gateway is full of crap. This is exactly why I build my own machines and don't deal with morons like Gateway or Dell. Win ME should play your games just fine, especially with a setup like that! I agree with kd7fhd, send it back.
