just got a new Radeon 8500, but I don't think this problem is specific to the card. After playing any graphic intensive game for over like 10 minutes, the computer just freezes. CPU temp are 36 Celsius, video card is barely warm.....
I resest my BIOS to FAIL SAFE defaults, and it still does it. It did the same thing with my old Geforce2 Pro, but not as often. My AGP Apeture is 256mb, and Fast Writes are disabled.
What are some other common things that can screw this up in the BIOS? It is an Epox mobo if that helps....
Just gimme some things to check, or problems you have encountered....
Oh, and I am pretty sure it has Something to do with the video card, because when WinXP starts back up, the little window says the Radeon 8500 was responsible for the instablility. (It said the exact same thing with my Geforce2)
The games are GTA3, Jedi Knight 2, and MOHAA. I am using the factory video card BIOS, and the WinXP 6071 drivers.
