I am having this delay the first time (after boot up) I click the start button. Also there is this same delay when I first click the down arrow button to show old web addresses I type in in previous session. Anyone know what could be wrong.

Win2K on Compaq Armade M700 notebook.😕

With the URL thing your cache is probably too big..even on my DUAL P3-800 machine it takes a few seconds to bring up the URL's the first time..you should go into Tool->Internet Options and do "Delete Files" and "Clear History" often enough not to waste space and get the delays you are getting..

As far as the start button is concerned, I've also seen that when the machine is still coming up..most of Windows facilities are avialable even though it is still starting up..so you might just want to hang on until all HD activity has ceased and then start using the machine..

So basically this is normal behaviour..nothing wrong with your Windows or your Notebook..Regards
