Help Please. Can't Get Duron700 Past 7.5 Multiplier

I just installed a Duron 700 (week 43) on an Epox 8KTA+. I unlocked it with automotive defogger conductive paint. I have a Taisol HSF. Of course I dove right in and tried to set the multiplier at 9.0 but got an error message about bios checksum error. So I started back at 7.5 and it runs fine there. When I try to set at 8.0 or 8.5 it resets itself back to 7.0. Where am I going wrong here?

May have crossed your connections on the L1 bridges. Try taking nail polish remover and a qtip and clean it off and start over. Also, what voltage? You may need to take it up to 1.85v.
Then again, you might have a cpu that won't go that far.

I was just using the auto setting for voltage. Should I crank it right up to 1.85 and try the multipliers again?

I was pretty careful with the conductive paint and was sure I could see clear gaps between the bridges, but who knows. I only checked with my eye - no magnification.

Man, if this thing won't go above 750 I'll have gotten the world's crappiest Duron!

Thanks Compuwiz! That did the trick.

Set the voltage at 1.85 and multiplier at 9.0 and and it loaded windows at 900. Woohoo!
I tried 9.5 and it posts but I get a Registry Checker error as it loads windows.
At 10.0 it loaded windows but showed the speed as 900.
At 10.5 I get the registry error with speed showing as 950. But that's ok, I'm happy running at 900. I backed off the voltage to 1.75 for now to see if it stays stable. I'll see if I can get a little more by raising the fsb.

Oh, one more question. Is the temperature reading in the bios accurate? So far the highest I've seen is 35 but haven't put any load on it yet.
