Help please! Boot stops after cpu test. Have to hit enter key to cont.

Not sure when this started but I can't associate it with any change to the system settings in bios or otherwise. Along with the boot stopping after the cpu test/probe I also noticed that when I try to access bios the screen goes blank until I hit 'enter' and then it takes me to the bios screen. I don't get it. This seems to have just started spontaneously. Any ideas anyone?

Abit Kr7A latest CX bios
XP2100 (not overclocked)
1.2Gb pc2100 (2x512, 1x256)
9800XT agp vid card
SB Audigy

its not usually a sign of a major problem. and in fact my bios is set to not stop on errors. but if you dont have more info its going to be not so easy to find. you could run prime95 to test some of your hardware, reset your cmos to default and see if it happens again, flash the bios (also resets to defaults), or replace the ram, or only stick one stick in at a time (tho i think the cpu test is after the ram test. anyways there are many other things that can be done to find this problem, this is just a few of them.

I've set my bios to stop on 'no errors' as opposed to 'all errors' or 'all, exc keyboard', etc... it still stops after it probes the processor. I have to hit the enter key to start the mem test.

This isn't hardware related. I've changed the cpu, memory, and primary drive. The motherboard itself must be flakey. I'm stumped.
