Help - Please boot sector messed up

I was going to reinstall XP but relized it was going to erase my files. Now I have Windows XP setup as a choice to boot to. I need to fix this. I remember fixing this with my moms comp with recovery console with fix boot or somethink but don't remember how to open it or how to fix it. Can anyone help me fix my boot sector? please help.

Just type "fixmbr" at the recovery console using the xp cd
