Let me start off with a list:
VIDEO- When loading Counterstrike(halflife), I randomly get an error message : "fatal...xxxxx:xxxx yada yada VMM ...vxd..."
I have narrowed it down to my card/drivers, and have used both the supplied 5.16 and 5.22 on my Herc Proph GTS. Disabling open gl and using software or D3D seriously minimizes performance and quality. The wierd thing is, it just started to happen a week ago, when all of the sudden, my memory(RAM) seemed to go poop. Error messages about system files, and the constant unallowance of letting me reinstall windows led me to believe it was my HD, so I formatted... didn't work. After testing hardware on my other pc.s, I found it was my memory, so I just bought another stick. Well, that stick is fine, and when I combined them, they workled fine together(new.module-1st/old.module-2nd) until a day later, I got the same system errors/ WINDOWS WRITE PROTECTION blah: vcache, ***.vxd, etc.
Couldn't load those files....
So after drinking more coffee, I installed another one of my HD.s, and installed Win'98, only using the new schtick o' ram. Oddly enough, I can no longer use my old HD as a stand alone, as it gives me an error message(after installing win'98, upon startup) VFAT... blah blah not compatible or something, I forgot. What's VFAT? Yes, the jumpers are all set correctly. 😛
I was also getting error messages about directx- some of which included directx files in the BSOD screen...yet I have 7.0a, and have installed many a times.
Another wierdity is everytime I restart(windows) I can play CStrike, until I get the BSOD, and sometimes, it reboots itself after the BSOD.
I have yet to call Micro Pro, as that was where I bought it, but could the fact that they didn't supply the system with working fans and my mom ran it for a few days @ 100+degrees F have anything to do with it?
I am seriously upset....I'm missing out on my frags!:|🙁
edit: This problem has been growing for months....I saw minor problems in CS and other apps. early on...
