Due to getting ADSL I needed to swap my no. 1 and no.2 (ip adresses) around. Having done this my no.2 computer when trying to open i e 6 says ACCESS DENIED SEE ACCESS CONTROL LIST !!!!!

Any ideas people? its my wfes machine and shes going mad!!!!! :(

Need more info...

This is what I *think* you have:
Comp1 connected to ADSL (Used to be a regular client)
Comp2 connected to network (Used to be ICS server)

You swapped the IP addresses of Comp1 and Comp2.
You set up ICS on Comp1.
You did NOT swap the Default Gateway of the machines. If this is the case, then you need to reset the Default Gateway, especially on comp2.

Thankyou Woody, I will check my gateways!
What and where is an access control list in w98se? I have never seen the phrase before.

One little thing, do you mean no.2 before ar after the changes (old gateway or new gateway?)

Thanks,

Renghis

The computer names never change, just their role (workstation or gateway).

Comps 3 and 4 (the kids) will work because they're still pointed to the same gateway address, which you moved to comp1. Comp2 still thinks it needs to connect through the dial-up connection, not through the LAN connection.
