HELP PLEASE 40gig hd and win 2000

I am running a clean install of windows 2000 and i have a 40 gig maxtor hard drive. windows 2000 will only recognize it as a 32 gig hard drive. Is there any way i can make it recognize the full 40 gig?

please respond asap via email if possible.

Sounds like a BIOS limitation not a Win2k limitation. One other thing. Is the drive formatted as NTFS or FAT32? I would first check you BIOS and make it can read anything higher than 32GB.

It's likely not a BIOS problem. Did you format the drive as FAT32? FAT32's maximum partition size is 32GB. Try deleting the partition and recreating it. Then format it as NTFS. That should fix your problem.

use NTFS, FAT32 sucks...

Also, you need to do a search or read the FAQ's, this is asked about twice a week.
