I just built my first computer, and everything looks great. The specs are:
Barton 2500+
Biostar M7NCD Pro Mobo
Pc2700 512mb
Radeon 9600
Maxtor 120gb 7200rpm 8mb cache
Antec Lanboy w/ 350w psu
...and Windows 2000 Pro Operating system
When I first turned the system on, it said: "Detected new Processor, please configure in the CMO, and don't forget to save"
....I couldn't really figure out how to get to the CMO, but configured something in one of the bios menus for the HDD, and the Optical Drives....and saved. But then when I started to load the Operating system, I accidentally "Formatted" the hard drive (which I'm guessing contained some of the saved info. Well....it turned on fine, so I wasn't worried.
I then loaded all the drivers, and everything seems great, and running awesome...then the trouble. I check the "System" statistics under the control panel, and everything is just dandy, except my brand new Barton 2500+ plus shows up as "AMD 1900+"!!! ?!?
...needless to say, I'm pretty bummed out. Can someone please explain to me what I did wrong? Does Windows 2000 not detect the 2500+ properly? Did I mess something up when I formatted the drive, or not gone into the CMO to change the processor settings? Is there still a way to go back to it, and change it?...or will I need to reset the motherboard and try again? This is frustrating, and since I'm a noobie at this, I really have no idea what I'm doing. Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.
