help playing midi files

i downloaded a midi tune; i had quicktime installed by a digicam app when i did it and the tune played fine online but as wmp is my default player it wouldnt play when i clicked on the d/l version.
i orginally thought it was a duff download but having deleted quicktime i find that i cant even get the online one to work one [it is a 24 sec tune and wmp9 recognises this and the bar moves across but no sound comes out].
i have made it default for all file types and my music etc works fine so how do i get it to play with media player?

I don't understand your statement. I have over 1,000 .MID files on hand, and WMP9 plays them perfectly. Howa re you going about it? The correct way is to use FILE, then browse to the MID file and select it. It will play. If it is not a .MID file, then your download got screwed up.
