Help! Places for Research

Spooner

Lifer
Since you guys are on the up and up on most of the world's technology, I figured this would be a good place to get some help in my quest.

I need to find out the software / applications currently being used in the BioTech / life sciences arena. My partner has a powerpoint deck that lists some older vendors (from '94) and he wants me to bring it up to date. I don't know the first thing about this industry and was wondering if anyone knew or knew places I could use to research.

Thanks!

While working for the USDA in an entomological nutrition lab, we used various incarnations of SAS, ArcView (for mapping experimental sites and analyzing data), Dionex Chromeleon & PeakNet for HPLC analysis, I forget which software for Mass Spec/GC (something from HP I believe), and some custom software for data collection.

In addition to typical Office apps, Photoshop, etc. Oh and Chemfinder for a bit of chemistry work.

Some vendors that were prevolent in '94:

- Datalogix GEMMS
- MARCAM Prism
- Ross Promix
- Cincom
- Consilium Flowstrem
- Spectrum Pointman

Any of these ring a bell?

BioTech.com is the best i've come up with so far, and they don't have that great of information.

I suck at researching 🙁
