Help...Pixel-Response time in LCD monitor's???

I asked this earlier in the Gerneral Hardware section, but didn't get any response. Can anyone tell me if there is any way to find out the "pixel-response time" for an LCD monitor? Are there any tests that will tell you this information? I just purchased a new lcd but cannot find this information about it in the spec sheet or from the manufacturer's website. Thanks in advance!

what is your LCD? Its usually listed in the spec;s unless its really bad.. though sometimes you need to go all the way to the manual to find it.

I don't know of anyway to check the spec.

azkiwi,

Thanks so much for the reply. The monitor is a Microtek C580 that I bought today for $208.00 on clearance. The quality of the text on the display is fantastic (very clear and crisp). However, I cannot find any information about what the pixel-response time is...not in the manual or on Microtek's website.

I just tried the monitor with a DVD and it was "ok", however some of the portions of the movie that were predominantly black/dark were rather "blocky" at times....and I am not sure if this is due to my video card (don't laugh - an All-in-wonder pro 8 MB... I know, old card).

I was hoping to find more info about this monitor. For the price I paid I think it is ok...but I would like to know if it would be great with a better video card or if this is just a limitation of this particular monitor....here is a link:

Thanks again!

For two hundred bucks its hard to go wrong with an LCD. If youre happy with the apps - be happy! Looking at the specs I'm guessing from the analog only and the restricted viewing angle, contrast etc that it is from the previous generation of LCD tech, most likely a IPS screen. They have typical response times in the 40-50ms range. Even a moderate upgrade on your video card will probably be worthwhile, but its dubious that you will enjoy the latest FPS games on that screen. But hey - for $208...!!

azkiwi,

Your exactly right...I should be (and am) very happy with this monitor. I must admit that for reading text...it is really a blessing. It makes looking at the screen for long periods of time much easier on the eyes. Now I guess I will retire my Sony CRT to video/game use only and enjoy the rewards of my new "cheap" purchase. Thanks so much for your comments. Best of luck!
