HELP! Pioneer 120s vs 106s

If I remember correctly, the specifications for the drives are identical but the 120 is shorter to be more in-line with the form factor of other optical drives.

The volume knob is still there... the front face looks the same. i have another question... on my new 120s, i kinda have to shove the cd in... is this normal... i mean does the drive need to be "broken-in"?

A shorter slot drive that the 106S would be good. I have several 106S drives, and they are long leaving only a couple of inches clearance in the rear for cables. The volume know is present. In Europe these drives come in silver color to match aluminum cases. I painted mine silver with red lips. 🙂

The 120S is available at Newegg for less than $41 w/free shipping. The common knock in the reviews is, the CD insertion and "swallowing" is not as easy as the 106S - maybe due to the shortened chassis? But there are several complaints about that. Also - the mini-CDs and business card CDs cannot be inserted unless someone invents some sort of carrier or caddy that makes them look like regular CDs.

Ideas?

Mini-CD adapters are readily available. I saw some neon coloured ones at a local Electronics Boutique, but any well stocked computer store or record store should have them in stock.

thx all... good to hear my drive is not the only drive with "swallowing" problem. as for the color... i got the black one to match my cheiftec case from newegg.
