Help picking Water Pump

Hmm, yeah, I've been wondering the same thing.. Also (not to threadjack 🙂), is it better to get one super-expensive pump that pushes around a lot of water, or is it better to just get two (or maybe more) cheap pumps?

Cuz you could do like:
Super-pump > CPU > NB > GPU1 > GPU2 > Radiator > Reservoir
But you could also do:
'Lousy' pump 1 > CPU > NB > 'Lousy' pump 2 > GPU1 > GPU2 > 'Lousy' pump 3 > Radiator > Reservoir
That could be cheaper, and possibly better 😉.

The Swiftech MCP655 is great, even better than my 650. If going with 2 pumps, (doubtful in regular sized cases) that would be great, though small pumps that are any good are very expensive. What CPU block are you going to get? Will you also water the GPU?

What do you mean by ultimate pump? give us some more info

The mcp655(DD d5) pumps are great 12v pumps for normal situations.

You can always get an AC Iwaki pump. Those things are incredibly powerful. The md20 is probably the most famous one and can do +5 gallons per minute and more than 10 ft of head. There are several models within the md20 family but they're all insanely powerful for a watercooling loop.

Its better to get 1 good pump than a bunch of junky ones just because they will probalby be built poorly. Having more pumps will also increase the amount of heat dump.

High restriction water setups: Iwaki MD-20RLZ (ac pump) or AquaXtreme 50Z-DC12 (dc pump)

Med to Low restriction setups: DD D5 (dc pump)

Type of restriction varies on which waterblocks and how many you are going to be using.

Here in Europe, the Eheim pumps (http://www.eheim.com/) have usually been considered the best pumps. The models most frequently used are 1046, 1048 and 1250. These can be used without a tank. Personally I have a Sicce Idra, which is fairly good and was quite cheap.
