help pick a card.

my friend needs a card for a new comp, here is the selection

G4-ti4200

G4-ti4800SE

radeon 9500
radeon 9600
(both non-pro)

geforce fx 5600
(non ultra)

which one of these 5 cards would you pick for the highest frames with NO AA and NO AF? and NO overclocking either.... just stock everything.

Highest frames would probably be close between 9500 and 5600 non pro.

I think in the end the 5600 non pro would probably win out in most cases.

I would say 9500 non pro, if you get the saphire bulk version off newegg you can mod up that puppy. The ti 4200 has been a great choice for a long time also, I still recommend them. If possible, try for a 9500 pro though.

im not goona do any soft-mod crap, its not my computer, i dont fvck with anything like that. and i cant spend more for the 9500 pro. the max for a vid card he can spend is 140.

and are you guys sure the 9500 non pro beats the 4800SE???

GF4 Ti4800SE is the definite winner

genx...please read some benchmarks b4 you post. The 5600 isn't even close to Geforce Ti speeds and i've only seen the 5600ULTRA surpass the GF4 by a big margin in AA and AF.

you would be taking a big chance, but many newegg 9500np have had successul softmods

4800se definitley wins this. It will of course be faster than a ti4200, and the np versions of the 9500 and 9600 only get faster once you enable AA/AF. And the fx5600...just a very slow card.

The Ti4800 SE is a slower version of the Ti4800. It isnt a replica or anything.
And looking at that set of benchies the 5600 non ultra is keeping up just fine with the Ti4200.

I suggest you stop listening to tom's hardware. fx5600 non ultra is pretty horrible. Look at
these benchmarks. Even when it's overclocked it's still slower than a ti4200. And keep in mind that a ti4800se will be even faster than that 4200.
