Hi all!

I have had my Tmobile cell phone family plan and a decent 3rd gen phone (Samsung TDH-809 I think) for about a year now...and discovered that home (local) phones can't reach my cell number, even when both begin with same area code!

Only way to reach me is to either call long distance, or use another cell phone.

How do I make sure folks with regular office/home lines can reach my cell? Thanks.

Oh noes, it's the end of the world, duck and cover!

It would help if you just bring your phone to the tmobile store and ask them WTF is going on.

In New Jersey they changed sometime back that even if it has the same area code you've to use the area code when dialing

I know this may be a genuinely shocking suggestion, so please do your best to bear with me here.

Call T-Mobile and ask them?

Christ, fucking public education.

I had a similar issue where our home phone just one day couldn't dial my wife's cell phone (Tmo) any more. I called Tmo and they did a bunch of tests, gave up and told me to call my home phone provider (AT&T). I called AT&T and they said they needed to update their routing table (or something like that). AT&T called me back 30 minutes later, asked me to try again and it worked fine.

Still, I agree with the advice above and would call T-Mobile first.
