I have my pc plugged into one of those sockets that you plug into the wall and it has like 6 outlets on it and a little button to turn the power off or on. Well earlier I accidentally stepped on that button and my computer immediatly turned off (because that button turned the power off to the outlets that my pc is plugged into).

When I turned it back on, it said that Windows did not start successfully and gave me the options to choose Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Last Known Good Configuration, and Start Windows Normally. to the black screen with the Windows XP loading bar. It loads for about 10 seconds then a blue screen with white text on it pops up for a split second and then my pc restarts itself. I cant read what the blue screen says because it only stays up for like half of a second then my pc restarts.

I have a Compaq SR1303WM running Windows XP professional.

I can boot up into safe mode (which I am using now) with no problems but when I try to boot up normally it just keeps restarting itself after Windows loads. I have tried restoring my system to a recent checkpoint but it did not solve the problem. I also have unplugged and replugged everything on my pc and it did not solve it either. Anyone have any more suggestions? All help is appreciated.

you will probably need to do a repair installation of WinXP from the console. you'll need to set the CD or DVD drive as the first boot device in the BIOS, then boot off the WinXP CD. follow the prompts and you'll come to the appropriate menu.

good luck

"It loads for about 10 seconds then a blue screen with white text on it pops up for a split second and then my pc restarts itself."

To get a look at the blue screen, Boot up in safe mode, uncheck the automatically restart option in the "start up and recovery" feature in System properties.
[Control Panel -> system -> "Advanced" tab - > "startup and recovery" -> uncheck the automatic restart option]. Now it wont automatically reboot when the booting error occurs.

If it is any system file error, then run System file checker utility [start->run-> type"cmd" and enter -> opens a command prompt and now type "sfc \scannow"].
It will require a winxp CD to replace any corrupt file.
