help! page faults

I am getting page faults when I try to install software and burn a cd from an image. I thought maybe it was the RAM and I tried it with new RAM and it seemed to only make it worse by giving me page faults when doing random things. Any suggestions on waht else it might be?

Here is my system:
Shuttle AK12A (non-DDR mobo)
AMD T-Bird 1.4GHz 266FSB (not overclocked with retail HS/F)
One stick of 512MB PC133 generic RAM
Riva128 8meg AGP video card
40 gig maxtor HD and 30 gig maxtor HD
TDk 24x burner (had same problem with my plextor 8x burner)
Antec case and Antec 300W power supply
And all the other usual stuff.

<< What is the exact error msg? >>

I didnt write down the exact error message.

<< Have you tried Microsoft Knowledge Base >>

I have not tried that.

here is the message i get:

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xFFF3F46A, F598F120, 0x0000000)

nv3.dll - Address BFF3F46A base at BFF30000, Datestamp 3b7dfec3

I got another one before that one.......i dont have what it says after "STOP" but it said underneath:
win32k.sys - Address BF876FC5 base at BF800000, Datestamp 3b7de698.

I believe that nv3.dll has something to do with video drivers. Like A.K.A. suggested, look at Microsoft's Knowledge Base.

From the topic I'll assume you got a 'Page fault in non-paged area' stop message. Because page faults themselves are not a bad thing, infact you'll normally get tons of them as you work in a program just because of how modern memory management works.

But from your post it looks like your video driver did something it's not supposed to, make sure you have the latest ones.
