I thought you were at 3.6, but it was running hot ? This from our PM:

"I have so far managed to get it to 3.6ghz but its running pretty hot with the Arctic cooler, 34.c idol and 55.c+ load. I want to try get it to around 3.3ghz with a lower multiplier. Would yo be able to recommend some bios settings that would come close to that? "

No CPU in S775 other than the extreme editions will allow changing the multiplier, you're stuck at 9x with FSB adjustment only.

That is incorrect, I just overclocked my Q6600 and im running it at 475x8 on a P5Q PRO

To the OP: What are your current FSB and voltages set at? Also, what speed is your RAM rated for?

SpeedStep support allows multis to be adjusted downward from the max, down to 6x (lowest multi supported on C2D chips.)

He said with a "LOW" multiplier, so 8 x 400 ?

right now i have it set to default but set ram to run at 1066. I would like 3.2ghz with a multiplier of maybe 7 is that's possible.

You have to change the memory multiplier, don't know where that is on your motherboard. Also, up the NB voltage and some other ones, not sure.

This is crucial. For 4 sticks of ram at high frequency, you will need to up northbridge, fsb voltage probably, and probably memory voltage as well.

You run up 4 sticks and you will need help for northbridge as mentioned. I am running P5Q Deluxe also, and it's a good board, but full load of 4 sticks will warm it up.

I have set the NB voltage to 1.40v seems to be okay. Memory voltage is at 2.1v as its running at 1066 and FSB is 1.35 now i got 8 hours on 2 workers with Prime95 and 15 hours and counting on the other two doing blend but tried to do some large ffts and got error straight away. Anything i've set wrong? Should i up the fsb volts more?

that would definitely indicate memory or MCH, not sure what you can do other than run memtest or adjust voltage or frequency on memory.

Maybe i can run the memory at 1006 rather than 1066? would you be able to recommend some settings for this board to run at 3.2g with the cpu multiplier on auto as the temps now are 22 27 26 23.c idol and 56.c load but if speedstep was on it would go even lower which would be better. I know im not the best at this but we have to start somewhere. This is the first pc i've ever built or o.c so any help would be gladly appreciated with the bios.
