help overclocking my XP2100? cant get past 175fsb

Currently I am trying to further overclock my system:

8rda+
XP2100 revB week 0248
Thermaltake SLK-800, with SmartanII
1x512mb Corsair XMS 3200 low latency RAM
Zalman Heatsink with 60mm fan on Northbridge
Antec 430 trupower

I am at 175fsb and cant get past that.

Any feedback on my settings:

Sys Performance: "Expert"
CPU Clock Ratio: 12.5
FSB Frequency: 175mhz
CPU Interface: "Aggressive"
Memory Frequency: "auto"
Memory Timings: Expert
TRAS 6
TRCD 2
TRP 2
CAS 2
AGP aperture size: 64m
AGP frequency: auto
CPU voltage: 1.75
AGP Voltage: 1.60
Dimm Voltage: 2.77


Very dissapointed that I cant get past 175fsb with this CPU and RAM.

Am I missing something?

What version of the 8RDA+ are you running? Run CPU-z and see what Northbridge chipset you have (A1/A2/A3/C1).

Alot of the early 8RDA Nforce2 boards can't make much higher than 180-185 FSB because of the VDD voltage.

This is weird....why does CPU-Z say my voltage is 1.6.... I am certain I have it set at 1.75 in the bios.???

 
The A2 chipset is very old and getting high FSB without increasing the vdd is a crap shoot at best.There is a vdd mod for your board that isn't to difficult that'll help you greatly in hitting higher fsb speeds, info on how to do it should appear early in the huge Official thread for the 8RDA+ in the mobo forum here. I had a Soltek SL-75FRN-L with A2 and because it had vdd adjustment in the bios I was able to run it at the bios's full 211mhz fsb limit so the vdd voltage increase should do the trick.
 
About the Vcore, I haven't used that board but if that's a newer version of CPU-z I'd say your board is undervolting badly as CPU-z is fairly accurate in my experience with it on many boards.

Does that mean I can go beyond 1.85 knowing that my actual is less (assuming CPU-Z confirms its?)

Not having used that board I hesitate to suggest doing so and advise that you get confirmation from a user before doing so. You could use CPUID as well and see if it produces the same voltage readings in the meantime.

Sisoft Sandra has the following readings:

CPU Core Voltage: 1.58
Auxillary Volage: 1.79

Its rather strange but Sandra's readings are the opposite of my bios.
Bios is set with AGP at 1.60 and CPU Core at 1.775.

How is that?

CPU-Z reads "voltage" at 1.58......

Is it possible that the Bios settings are backwards? I did notice my temps increased each time i raised my Core voltage which leads me to believe the motherboard is correct.




 
Sandra isn't reliable...for anything 😉 try WCPUID to see if it confirms the CPU voltage CPU-z indicates. What you have set in the bios for the voltage is irrelevant if it's undervolting/overvolting but if WCPUID and CPU-z are both showing almost identical vcore then you definitlely are undervolting and I'd pump some more juice, especially if that voltage is@idle and not heavy load.
