Help overclocking 2500+ to 3200 equivalent

Hiya. I was just looking for someone to go step by step on how to overclock a 2500+ to a 3200+. I have a asus a7n8x deluxe mobo, and I know lots of ppl have overclocked to 2.2 ghz, but I just don't want to mess anything up, as this is my first time overclocking. I understand all of what's going on when you overclock.
Also, I have 2x512mb pc3200 (400 mhz fsb) ram, and I know the 2500+ is 333 mhz fsb. Could someone help me out getting these the same also? (Would that be part of the overclocking when I change fsb and multiplier). As you can see, I'm quite the newbie at this, so thank you all in advance for your help. Lots of ppl have been a huge help with deciding what parts to get for my new comp as well.

Set your ratio 1:1 and put FSB @ 200 and CPU multiplier at 11. Make sure AGP is locked at 66mhz and you should be good.

i just got through oc my system....i have my 2500+ at 2.2 ghz.....i set my fsb to 200 and my mult to 11....its stable....i went to 11.5 on my mult. but it wasnt stable so I changed my vcore from 1.66 to 1.725 .....this seemed to help but i need to run prime 95 again.....im fairly new to oc as well.....i know you need a good heat sink though cause temps rise quickly! im have the slk800 with temps around 40 idle and 45-47 under load....i have seen on the forums a link to where you can get the slk's for aroun $20-$25

I recommend you use some serious cooling before attempting overclocking to that degree.

Good water cooling as a minimum. Peltier or (even better) phase change cooling.

Depends on how serious you are and how much you wish to spend.

you might need to bump them up a bit

Air cooling will be just fine. I have both a Barton 2500+ and a XP2100+ running 2.2+ghz on air cooling. I don't even use a copper heatsink. Temps are fine at 39C and 42C loaded. Low 30's idling.

why wouldn't you do 400 FSB and multi by 5.5, isn't that easier on processor?

i tried higher fsb settings....i tried 250 by 5 or 5.5 and prime 95 crapped out

I cant get past 212 fsb without prime 95 giving a rounding error......to get 212 i couldnt even use my rated ram speed 6-3-3-2 its corsair xms 3200 ddr.....I bumped those speeds to 8-3-3-2.5 and it worked at 212fsb....would changing the ram to 11-3-3-2.5 or even 11-2-2-2 help me get higher fsb's?

That's completely unnecessary. Mine's at 2.3 Ghz on 1.725 volts and no overheating problems. Water cooling is for 2.5 and beyond... or for someone that wants quiet cooling.

don't forget to use 2.8V on your RAM. also, start off with really relaxed timings, then once u get 200FSB, work your way up to 6-2-2-2
