Help overclock a amd Athlon 1800xp

Hey i'm still new when it comes to overclocking the cpu and was just curious so to overclock it do all i do is make sure to change the multipliers and make sure i've got some damn good cooling power in my case? My cpu is an Amd athlon 1800xp with an asus a7n266-c mobo. If anyone could offer a suggestion i'd love to hear it. Thanks
 
is it a t-bred or palomino? if it is a palomino, it will have to be unlocked for you to mess with multipliers.
 
😉 Forget unlocking it as Polly top out around XP2100+ speed anyway so FSB increases should be mroe than enough. Considering TbredB XP1700+ are infinitely better (ie unlocked, cooler, almost always happy at XP2700+ or higher) it makes no sense to fart around with a sweaty Polly! What chipset does a7n266-c use as that along with your RAM could also be limiting factors esp when trying to maximise TbredB.
