HELP on USEAGE of Built-in LAN Mobo Chip

Can the built-in LAN port, like on this mobo over here at NewEgg be used as the interface for my BROADBAND CABLE connection just like I use a PCI-based NIC now??? I have used different NIC's to connect to my ISP and they don't seem to be NIC "finicky". I won't be using the built-in LAN for networking. I am asking this question because this board (which I am considering purchasing) only has TWO legacy PCI slots (of which one may be blocked and unuasable) so I need to have as many available PCI slots for a few lwgacy items.

Thanks for your help !!!
