Help on suggested laptops

I have a desktop that I built last summer that meets my demands for gaming and stuff, so I just need a basic laptop that is cheap. All I want to do on the laptop is connect through wireless connection, type papers, search the internet, and talk on aim. Thats it..nothing special. I was in hopes to finding one for around 300$ range. Im not sure how fast of a computer i really need..I dont really want overkill cause im not going to be doing much...I am a college student, and I will have both computers in my dorm room..and I am almost always on campus, so there is no need for a killer desktop and a killer laptop. Any suggestions on places to look for laptops? I really dont need anything special..although Win XP i really want. Thanks for your time

I did some checking for you and unfotunately I could not find a new laptop for around $300. This gives you a couple options: you buy a refurbished laptop, or you up your spending to around $500. For a basic/entry level system you will want to look for a Celeron or Sempron processor, 256MB memory, 30GB hard drive, integrated video, 12" to 15" LCD, CD-RW drive, and XP Home. The best bet for you price range would be a Dell Inspiron 1200. It starts at $549 and offers just what you need. I hope this helps.

$300 is really cutting it close.

ebay or FS/FT forum..

Try and snag a good deal.

Decent laptops under $500 are hard to find.

Good Luck!
