I ordered my P4PE from NewEgg yesterday. I also ordered a P4 2.4BGhz processor with a stick of Samsung 512 MB PC2700 DDR333 RAM. Amazingly even though I had a problem with my ship to/bill to address difference it shipped yesderday so I anticipate getting it before Thanksgiving!
OK, I am not really an overclocker (I did o/c a celeron a few years ago) and am upgrading from a 1 GHz PIII. I am fine running the P4PE at stock speed but I have read reviews indicating this board o/c's nicely and it's LOADED!
This is my first P4 rig so I need some advice on settings. My current mobo is an Abit with the "softmenu" setup which makes setup a breeze. What should I expect with the Asus? Jumpers? Are settings through the bios? Any recommendations on settings I can push right out of the box without extra cooling? I had to scrimp on the RAM, although I hear the Samsung is good quality. What would be a good setting for my RAM? What would you say is a good setup for voltage, etc. I am running Win98SE. Key Components:
Maxtor 7200 ATA Ultra 133 60 GB HDD + an additional DMA 33 HDD I plan to use for video for now, Samsung 40x12x40 CDRW.
