help on running Seti CLI hidden

I've done it with SetiHide I think before, but that still brought up a Window I have to close. How can I run Seti CLI hidden on a WinME box?

No, I don't think /h works alone with the 3.x clients. Here's what you need to do.

Put the CLI and SETILog in a folder. Make a shortcut to SETILog and stick it in the StartUp folder. Add the /h switch to the SETILog shortcut. SETILog will automatically start the CLI and run it hidden.

This might be of some help.

the /h nor the -min on setilog did not work for me though.

setidriver will hide the cli version but leaves an icon in the tray.

didnt try the reg hack

I have tried the Registry Key suggested in that link on Win95c, Win98SE and WinME and in every one of them, all it did was start it minimized, putting the the icon in the systray for the GUI client, and putting it minimized to the taskbar with the command line client...

Hmm. The SETILog trick works for sure with the 3.0 CLI. Maybe it doesn't work with the 3.03 CLI or something...I haven't tried it.

The most recent Setilog hides v3.03 CLI just fine. If there is interest I suppose some type of hidden floppy distro could be generated...

Sorry I haven't responded all day. Was busy installing my new KT7A/Duron system at work. 🙂 I ordered a 650 but they sent me a 700! I'm sending it back!!! 🙂 NOT! 🙂 It's not comfortable running 133MHz bus CAS2 at 933MHz at 1.80V core. Haven't pushed it more than that though. Need to do the bridges too. I tried that at first with 0.3mm pencil lead, but I did it haphazardly and it didn't work so I erased it and went on. I can't BELIEVE how fast those lines increase watching the CLI in verbose! DAYUM!!! 🙂😀

Anyways, I want to run the CLI on all our systems at work since it's faster, and I think I know how to run the CLI as a service in NT/2k so you won't see it, but most of the boxes are 9x/ME boxes and I don't want the near-computer-illiterate people wondering about it or have the chance of screwing it up. If I can't run it hidden so that it's off the taskbar and they don't have to close the dead window like my experience with SetiLog, then I'll just run the GUI version no screensaver running constantly. An item in the systray is acceptable.

Do you mean it's telling you that SETI is running whenever the PC is shutdown?

Just go into the properties for conagent.exe in the windows folder, and turn off "warn if still" active or something similar to that. The properties for conagent.exe apply to all MS-DOS box windows, including the CLI.
