Help on Notebook choice

I would choose the Asus mainly because it is 15.6-in and the Dell is 17,X in. For me, portability is paramount, and a 17 incher is not very good in an aircraft.

Since we don't know how you intend to use it, the question has to be what I would choose for myself between the two.

In terms of specs and durability what would you choose?
Pretend they both same size.

I cant decide as Dell has better gpu but slower cpu.

Cpu difference is slight. Because of turbo, the SV part is going to be anywhere between 20-40% faster than the ULV. The graphics however, in the dell are about 50+% better (minimum). An i5 ULV will still drive a 8730m fairly well, in the majority of games better than the i5 SV + 630m.

The dell has a 1080p screen (not sure about the asus).

Review to help with. This is the 900p model.

Note that the ULV absolutely chokes on hitman.

8730m is about 20% less than the 730m.

15 inch if portability is a concern. 17 inch if it isn't (bigger screen to game on).

FWIW I have had terrible experiences with Asus customer support for my N56VZ. I just got it back from its third RMA in 7 months, and they replaced the keypad with a defective one. It will have to go back a forth time. Overall, I had good luck with my dell (though it is a business - latitude device) Dell solved my technical problems quickly and efficiently. Asus support has been a mess to deal with as they seem to have 2-3 solutions to all problems...(reset to factory image, return for RMA where we will return to factory image again, we replace components)... and there is not an escalation path to get off their ineffective support hamster-wheel. I will never buy another Asus device because of my experiences.
