ok, i have 512 (2 x 256) megs of OCZ ddr pc400 platinum in dual channle and im getting a gig of OCZ (2 x 512) megs of DDR PC400 platinum revision 2 ram! can i run the 2 x 256 megs of the older ram with the newer 2 x 512 of ram? will it hurt my system? they have diffrent timeings

thanks

Not at all, the system will use the 2x512 first then if needed it will go to the 2x256s. So your 1.5 GB ram will be better than 1Gb bcoz if the system needs more than 1 GB then it wont use swap space it will use the 2x256 which is better/faster than swap

thanks for the reply. they both have diffrent timeings... the gigs timesings are 2,2,2,6 and the 512 is 2,3,2,5 or something like that... will that matter?

I dont think that will maater either. As long as the 1st pair has the exact same sticks you should be good to go
