Help on Kyro 4000XT

On fresh install WinME, VIAKT133A, DirectX8.0a, and VIA 4in1 4.28, after installing the drivers for Kyro 4000XT, the desktop is rainbowly colored. Even after I changed the color to 32-bit, still the same ... all the icons are multi-colored. Changing the driver to the most recently released didn't help. Do I have a defective card??? Please help!
