from my laptop with winME , i can not see the hard drive in the desktop
with win2k. but i can see the shared cd-rom or even the shared folders
in that hard drive, but not the entired hard drive.

in win2k, i set the hard drive as shared, but i can not change the share
name of it. (it is named as C$ by the system.) also in win2k, there is
no hand sign under the hard drive icon. how can i solve this??

thanks.

there are 2 ways to solve this... you can use the command: \\computername\c$ or you can right click on the win2k drive and select share.

thank u very much.

problem solved.

it turned out that i need to "establish a new sharing" to change
the share name from C$ to C.

If the harddrive in WIn2k is NTFS then I think it will be transparent to WinME. If Fat32 then select "add share" and just label the drive C or D etc... It will enable share then. The default is C$ or no sharing.

{edit} looks like you figured it out as I was typing.
