hello everyone!, I'm new to the forums and I decided to join for the purpose of getting some advise on which motherboard to use.
I would like to build a new computer based on the AMD 64 3400+. Is there any motheboard capable of supporting DUAL processors like these?.
If I choose to go for the single processor, are there any slodowns in rendering and what could be the disadvantages?
The use I'm going to give this computer will be VIDEO EDITING AND SPECIAL EFFECTS, I would like to hear from any experienced people out there if I'm making the right decision as far as processor is concerned. I have never used a Pentium processor. That's why I need feedback.
Thank you much for reading and taking the time to reply.

If for video editing the a Dual CPU will help wuite a bit, BUT will cost more. You will also have to use Opterons to run Dual CPUs and also require Reg memory in dual slots for the dual Ch memory. You can save some money by using 2 144 opterons instaed of teh 244 chips. The 1XX opterons are juts liek the 2XX but are not tested.
A good dual opteron board that will be cheap and do what you want is the MSI K8T Master2-FAR and goes for $205 shipped at newegg.com. Even comes with heatsinks.

Now if that is to much money then a single Athlon64 will save some major cash, as it does NOT require Reg memory and the CPU's are a little cheaper with the boards. A great Athlon64 board, the same one I use by the way, is the Albatron K8X800 ProII and goes for $119 shipped at newegg.com It has onboard HARDWARE sound card, giga ethernet port, and True SATA.

So if you got the budget go Dual Opteron, either 2 144's or 146's.
