Help on car repairs

Ok here's some pics of damage to the car. What would be the least expensive way of getting this repaired? Would the whole door need to be replaced? Or are there are other options? any ideas on how much this would cost?

It would probably be cheaper to get a used door and paint it to match than to pay the labor to fix the old one. Take it to a couple places and get some estimates - then you'll know for sure.

The only problem with salvaged doors would be the need to do all the rewiring, etc. I guess all the electricals and lock could be taken from the old door - but isn't that just as expensive? Is there any way just to repair the metal itself? Fix the dent? Something cheap?

Every power lock solenoid, window regulator, power mirror, and speaker that I've seen has connectors. Just unplug that stuff.

If the cars were equipped differently, then you may want to swap out the interior door panel with all of the accessories to the new door.

Time consuming, not impossible.

There's no reason that door can't be repaired. You'd have to repaint a used door anyway.

True, but if you get lucky, you might even find a used door in that color. Not saying the paint would match 100%, but for the cost savings, who cares. I recommend http://www.car-part.com

Just enter your make and model and there's a list of parts....tons of salvage places.

So once again my question to the OP is, do you want it fixed RIGHT or do you want it fixed CHEAP? You can't have both.

I always end up making this statement/question in these body repair threads.

If you're going to sell it, keep in mind that you're going to get quite a bit less for it with that damage. A crappy, half-assed job makes it look worse, thus making the car worth even less. The people with the money won't pay top dollar for a car with a crappy repair job.

You're better off trading it in with the damage than trying to half-ass a repair. You won't fool anyone.

Bollocks. Any self respecting panel beater can do a half-assed job that makes the thing look good.

I agree with you. My comments that you quoted was directed at the OP with him saying he wanted it done on the cheap. I absolutely agree that the most cost effective way to produce a quality repair to this door is to repair the panel, refinish it, and blend the color into the fender for a good color match, then clearcoat both the fender and door. That would make a quality repair if done by a qualified technician.
