95 Civic

94 Eclipse

Neither are what I would end up getting, just an idea. I am interested in a Turbo engine, which I could upgrade later, and good aftermarket support. I know the civic has tons of aftermarket support, but not so sure on the eclipse.

Bottom line: Fast car that would be fun to work on, but still have it look sporty as it will be my highschool car.

P.S. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Budget: 5-6k.

Sup man,

I too am beginning to look at a "newer, funner" car than the one I have and am looking to spend between 5-6k.

You have two good choices there, although the mileage seems rather high for both vehicles.

If you are looking to "race" your car I would probably not go with an automatic. A manual is typicallly better suited for the smaller four-bangers.

Yes, there is a ton of aftermarket stuff for the Eclipse/Talon/Laser. Go check out DSMTalk for a ton of good info.

As I said, just an idea. How annoying would the manual transmission get for everyday driving.

Anyone know what the turbo Eclipse is.

Too bad both the cars in your are normally aspirated. For the eclipse, it would be an absolutely idiotic idea to turbocharge the base model when for only a few hundred to a few thousand will net you the real deal.

The Civic is reliable and all, but why not get a car that's fun out of the box like a 1993 Sentra SE-R? Whether you think it's an ugly car or not, no cars for 5K will get you a girl or double glances.

Bottom line: High school kids don't need fast cars. They need a care that's safe, built tough for when you WILL hit something, and then entertaining to drive.

No car fits the bill better than the Volvo 240 Turbo. If it's too old, then I would recommend the Sentra SE-R.

I put up the link just to show a pic of the cars. I WILL be getting either an Eclipse or a Civic unless something drastic makes me change my mind. I said that as a will not be getting either of those EXACT cars.

get a 95 or newer maxima. make sure it is 5spd, and you will leave all the "cool" civics and eclipses in the dust.

turbo kits are made for the maxima, and if you get one, everyone better watch out. now if you get your "cool" civc and turbo it, I would probably still beat you in my stock 5spd maxima.

I looked at some of the Maximas, and they just aren't something I'm interested in. Speed is only part of it to me as I won't be doing heavy racing.
