help on buying video card

i have a motherboard, abit v6. its agp slot is 1x/2x. nowadays, i see many video card says it supports 4x/2x. does my motherboard support it? for example, will my motherboard support

ECS 64MB SiS315 256-bit 4X AGP Video Card w/TV Out AG315T-64TV

that is on sale now at compgeeks?

I think it should. Agp slots are compatible with almost any type, so you probably don't have to worry about it.

However, the newer AGP 8X will only slot into motherboards with AGP4 and above..

so your best bet would be either a non-8X Geforce3/4 or a Radeon 8500/9000/9100 (not the 92/95/97/98 00).

That SIS315 is definitely not a gaming board, and not tops in 2D quality either. If you just want a nice card to go web browsing / word, and the price is right, then that card will do fine.
